Description
This historic bitter was born in 1854 in Pisticci, Matera, in the biscuit factory of the Vena family, from a secret recipe of Giuseppe, the head of the family, which involved the use of 30 different officinal herbs. National success came in 1900, when the Vena family became official suppliers of the House of Savoy, whose coat of arms is still depicted on the label today. Since 1950, under the watchful eye of Giuseppe's children, the company has grown to become an industrial reality and expanding the range with other products, although the amaro remains the flagship of the range, suitable for all occasions. and versatile in numerous preparations. It can be tasted smooth, iced, or with orange peel, as well as being an excellent base for cocktails. In the glass it has a brown color, with coppery reflections. On the nose there are classic herbaceous hints, fused with citrus and sweet spice sensations, with a balsamic background. The taste is exemplary in the sweet-bitter balance, in a succession of aromatic vegetable returns, medicinal herbs and wild flowers, along a dry and clean finish that leaves the mouth decidedly satisfied and eager for another sip.
