Description
Château Romassan is one of the most emblematic estates of the Bandol terroir: here the Ott family has been engaged in the production of great wines since 1956.
The passionate approach to viticulture saw an important turning point in 2014, with the acquisition of 36 hectares in the lieu-dit de «l'Hermitage»,
suited for the altitude, the terraces, the presence of old plants, north-south exposure; a major renovation of the entire site has
allowed to obtain an ideal habitat for the production of very full, full-bodied and spicy reds.
The one proposed here is a particular year: in 2018 frost, hail, abundant rain in summer and no windy day; but thanks to continuous supervision
to cope with these complications, the vegetative cycle was carried out correctly. The vinifications give life to a vintage with a delicate and fruity character, with an excellent balance.
The terroir is characterized by poor soil, composed of limestone, sandstone and marl from the upper marine cretaceous.
The acidity of the soil and the low rainfall are compensated by the sea air of the Gulf of Bandol. The vines are 85% Mourvèdre and 15% Grenache.
Aging for 18 months in barrique and another 18 months in glass
